Instructions
  1. To begin with, apply the chicken pieces with the five spice powder and salt and allow them to sit for half an hour or so.
  2. Next, place the chicken on the skillet and sear them for 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. After that, turn them over and sear the other side also for 3 minutes.
  4. Now, transfer the chicken to the slow cooker with the skin side up.
  5. Then, mix all the ingredients that are needed to make the sauce excluding the xanthan gum in a small bowl until they are well combined.
  6. Pour three- fourth of this sauce over the chicken in the slow cooker and cook them for 6 hours on low heat.
  7. Once cooked, transfer the cooked chicken to the serving plate.
  8. Finally, take the remaining sauce and pour them into a blender along with the xanthan gum and blend them for 10 to 20 seconds until it becomes a smooth paste.
  9. Spoon this smooth paste over the chicken and serve. If desired, you can even place some extra orange slices along with the chicken.
